Do I Need Counseling?

Many people are hesitant to consider financial counseling. They fear being taken advantage of, being given inaccurate or biased information, or being sold products they don't need. If money is tight, they certainly don't understand why they should spend any of it on an "expert."

At Globous Financial Relief, we hope to empower individuals to understand and manage their own finances. The tools on this website give you a great start. But many people in crisis or at-risk need extra help to make sense of things; they got into a bad position because they lacked the knowledge, skills, or discipline to become prosperous. Even financially healthy people will discover they can eliminate stress and increase their wealth by relying on the professional advice of a trustworthy financial counselor.

Studies show that the money people invest in financial counseling is usually recouped almost immediately, in the form of avoided late fees and overlimit penalties, and reduced interest payments.

Many organizations counsel clients while selling a product like insurance, debt management, or investments, but these services are usually biased and often fail to consider a client's overall financial health. They also typically overlook lower- and middle-income people, and ignore the large population who are financially at-risk but could be healthy with a little guidance.

There is a great need for objective, preventative, and affordable financial counseling ... so at Globous Financial Relief we provide this service. As a non-profit organization, we charge only what is needed to cover our costs, and we receive no compensation from clients' creditors or for referrals. A good, objective financial counselor should do the following things for you:
-- Set up a spending plan that is customized for you.
-- Help put out financial "fires," such as dealing with creditors or collectors.
-- Assist you in making goals in harmony with your values.
-- Help you figure out your specific financial needs based on your stage of life.
-- Teach you how to evaluate financial products yourself
and avoid being scammed.
-- Help you get organized to avoid late fees, overlimit fees, or buying items you already have.
